General Paediatrician
My mission is to provide comprehensive medical care to children and their families using a holistic approach with the most up to date knowledge and expertise. When required, I collaborate with a caring and experienced team of on-site allied health professionals. I work full-time in private practice allowing me to provide urgent support for my patients with review appointments when required. I provide long term care for children and their families from birth to leaving school.
Dr Chris Toumpas is a Brisbane paediatrician providing comprehensive care for children and families from newborn age through to adolescence. He is known for his attentive, practical and family-centred approach, combining broad paediatric expertise with long-term continuity of care.
Dr Toumpas works full-time in private practice, allowing him to provide ongoing support for his patients and urgent review appointments when required. He values building long-term relationships with families and believes children achieve the best outcomes when parents feel supported, informed and involved in their child’s care.
He is a founding director of Paeds in a Pod, a multidisciplinary paediatric group with several clinics across Brisbane that brings together paediatricians, allied health professionals and other specialists to provide coordinated care for children and adolescents.
Dr Toumpas has extensive experience across all areas of general paediatrics, including newborn medicine, developmental and behavioural paediatrics, mental health concerns and complex long-term medical conditions. He enjoys caring for children from birth through to their school years and values the continuity and trust that develop over time with families.

Dr Toumpas consults privately at Paeds in a Pod in Woolloongabba and is affiliated with Greenslopes Private Hospital, Mater Children’s Private Hospital and Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital. He has also worked as a visiting specialist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Toumpas is actively involved in medical education, professional development and peer collaboration within paediatrics. He regularly teaches and supervises paediatric trainees, medical students, general practitioners and nursing staff, and facilitates peer review and clinical discussion sessions for paediatricians. He is also available for professional and community education presentations.
Dr Toumpas was previously Head of the Paediatrics Department at Greenslopes Private Hospital and continues to contribute to paediatric education through his role as Senior Lecturer in Medicine at The University of Queensland.
He has undertaken research in newborn hearing, congenital cytomegalovirus infection and medical education, with publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. In 2016, he received the award for Best Poster Presentation at the International Paediatrics Conference in Atlanta, USA.

Research and Publications
Dr Toumpas has published research in paediatric medicine including congenital cytomegalovirus infection and newborn hearing loss. His academic work is also listed through ResearchGate and Publons.
Outside of Medicine
Outside of work, Dr Toumpas enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as photography and squash.
